The Jim Ovia Scholarship was established in memory of the late Jim Ovia, a pioneer in the field of agricultural engineering. The scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in agricultural engineering who has exhibited excellence in academics and leadership. This year’s recipient is Allison Tindle from the University of Missouri.
Allison Tindle is a senior at the University of Missouri studying agricultural engineering. She has been involved with numerous organizations on campus and outside of it, most notably her chapter of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She has also served as president of the Student Agricultural Engineering Association and as a member of the National Society of Black Engineers’ Executive Board. In addition, she has been heavily involved in research projects both independently and as part of team efforts. Her project “Analysis and Simulation Modeling for Irrigation Scheduling under Variable Climate Conditions” (co-authored with Kaitlyn Langer) received first-place honors at the Missouri Alumni Research Foundation (MARF) 2018 Undergraduate Research Competition.
